God has a heart for the orphan, the widow, the poor, and the sick. He cares for the most vulnerable and marginalized people. We want to be Christ-like and do the same. So each year, our Family of Churches rallies around our partner organizations for Serve the City Weekend. 

This year, Serve the City will take place on Saturday, March 16, so save the date on your calendar!

We will host a Super Bowl party on Sunday, February 11 at Transitions (2025 Main St., Columbia, SC). The Super Bowl party is a fun and relaxed way to get to know the clients at Transitions while also watching the game. It will consist of setting up and serving concessions, talking to Transitions clients, and playing games (if football isn’t your thing).

Please bring a snack to share. If you have a fun game to play, please bring that along as well.

The event will start at 6:00pm and end at the end of half time, but you can stay till the end if you want!

This event is for anyone 18 and older.

We will host a Gingerbread House Party on Wednesday, December 13 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Transitions Homeless Center. 

At the event, we will build Gingerbread Houses with Transitions clients while enjoying other holiday goodies! This event is best suited for anyone 18+. It is a great opportunity to meet and interact with Transitions clients in a casual environment and also bring them some seasonal fun.

We are hosting a Pumpkin Carving event at Transitions Homeless Center on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. 

During our time, we will carve pumpkins with Transitions clients and enjoy other Halloween festivities! It is an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with Transitions clients casually and bring them some seasonal fun. This year will be our 5th year of carving pumpkins at Transitions, and we always meet at least one person who has never carved a pumpkin before!

Please bring a pumpkin, snack, or candy to share. This event is best suited for anyone 18+.

Support Daybreak on Saturday, October 14, at Saluda Shoals Park for a fun, family-centered 5K! Registration will begin at 8:00 am, and the walk/run will start at 9:00 am. 

Registration is $35 for adults, and kids 12 and under are $10 (kids two and under are free). A T-shirt is included. A delicious pancake breakfast and hot chocolate/coffee will be served!

Our STC Partner, The Salvation Army, serves those in need in our local community through the love of Christ. One way they do this is by providing meal services for those experiencing homelessness as well as food and clothing for the underresourced.

To assist in their mission, we will collect canned goods and bottled water to help support the food pantry that desperately needs them. Here is a list of items you can provide:

Join Epworth for its Campus Work Day on Saturday, September 9, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. 

This day is an incredible opportunity to serve Epworth on both indoor and outdoor projects. Your assistance throughout the day will create a welcoming atmosphere for foster parents, caregivers, and visitors.

You have an opportunity to serve that mission on our next Home Works service day on Sat, November 12 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

No tools or construction skills are required, but you may bring tools if you wish.  A location will be provided to attendees closer to the event date.  If you have any questions, please email Ben Paulin.

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve? Our STC partnership organization, Epworth Children's Home, needs outside volunteers to assist during its Sunday School and Worship Gathering on Nov 6 from 4:30 - 6:15 pm. This event provides biblical teaching and worship for Epworth middle and high school boys and girls. 

Serving Epworth through this event allows campus students to experience God through scripture and worship. There are many opportunities to serve. Join us by participating in worship or teaching from Epworth's curriculum.

All profits will go towards supporting the mission and vision of Daybreak Ministries of advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and saving the lives of preborn children in the Midlands. Come gather at Epworth’s Campus on Saturday, June 25th from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm for food, fun, and fellowship with the Epworth staff and kids! This event will provide positive interactions with individuals who are interested in bettering the lives of the Epworth kids as well as give an opportunity to develop relationships with the kids.

Chef’s Feast will be held on June 5, 2022 at 6pm at the Capital City Club. This event is one of the major annual fundraisers to support the programs and services provided by Transitions Homeless Center.

The evening will include a five-course menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes prepared by talented chefs around the region with magnificent views of the Columbia skyline.

Transitions provides homeless men and women ages 18 and older access to our day center, hot meals, showers, service providers and housing.

Daybreak Ministries' Annual Banquet will be held on May 19, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Seawell's Banquet and Reception Center. 

This year's theme, Hero's Heartbeat, is inspired by our state's legislators fighting to put an end to abortions after a detection of the infant's heartbeat in the mother's womb is discovered.

An organization called Curing Kids Cancer is hosting their annual Fire Truck Pull as a fundraiser for childhood cancer research. During this event, teams will be competing to pull a fire truck in the fastest time. This organization was started by the family of one of our Midtown members and they are asking for people to put together teams to pull for this event.

The theme for this year’s event is “10 years later...and the journey continues,” reflecting the fact that 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of Transitions Homeless Center!

You have an opportunity to take part in that mission during our Home Works Service Day on Sat, June 26 from 8:00am - 3:00pm. We will be doing some light carpentry and painting. Previous experience is not required and all skill levels are welcome!

The talent show is a fun way for residents to show off their skills by singing, dancing, storytelling, etc. We will also have a DJ on site to keep the energy flowing.

We are hosting this event to bring fun to the residents of Transitions. This is a great opportunity to get to know some of the residents and to remember that we are no different than the men and women in homeless situations in our city.

In the week leading up to Easter Sunday, we will have several Midtown members tell stories about their walk with the Lord, sing worship music, etc.

We are hosting this event to share how Jesus has worked in our lives and invite them to the gathering on Sunday to celebrate Easter with us. This is a great opportunity talk openly about your faith with the men and women at Transitions.

We will host a movie night open to our family of churches on Thursday, March 12 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Transitions Homeless Center. This event is open to anyone 18+, Midtown member or not. For the movie night, we will bring in a projector and speakers for a real movie going experience. The event will last approximately two and a half hours (depending on the length of the movie). We are hosting this event to simply create a fun experience with the residents of Transitions.

We will host a Super Bowl Party open to our family of churches on Sunday, February 2 at 6:00 pm at Transitions Homeless Center. This event is open to anyone 18+, Midtown member or not. The Super Bowl party will consist of hanging out with the residents while enjoying the game. There will also be a room open to play games, so if you don't want to watch, bring a deck of cards or whatever game you enjoy. The event will last until the game ends. We are hosting this event to simply hang out and connect over something that so many of us in the south enjoy: football!

Please bring a snack, dessert, or drink (canned soda preferred) to share! Midtown will be providing chips & salsa.

The game starts at 6:30 pm, but we'd like people to arrive at 6:00 pm to help with set up.
