Connect Brunch

connect brunch.jpg

We will host our Connect Brunch for our Downtown church on August 25, 2019. Connect Brunch is a great way for newcomers to meet members and get more connected to our church family. It will consist of a provided brunch from 10:30am to 11:30am. At Midtown, we have a relational foundation to all that we do. If you are new or just starting to come around, we would love to spend time getting to know you over a meal and for you to ask any questions you may have as you’ve started to come around.

For more information, contact Wes Butler. If you plan to attend, please be sure to RSVP here.

The brunch will be held at the Midtown Offices at 1819 Taylor St. Columbia, SC 29201. Childcare is not provided, but this is a kid friendly event.

Recovery

image-asset.jpeg

Recovery is a group that meets in a 10-week cycle to help people achieve freedom and healing from issues that seem unbeatable in their lives. It is for anyone facing a battle in their life—personal sin struggles, dealing with emotional scars, or any other issue. It's a safe, family environment where you can come and deal honestly and openly with your struggles, and let Jesus begin to heal and free you in the midst of biblical family.

We gather for a short time of worship and teaching, then we break up into gender-specific small groups for discussion, encouragement, and prayer. For more information, visit our Recovery page.

We meet Monday evenings at 6:00pm in our Student Groups Building at 1819 Taylor Street. The Recovery curriculum will be provided for you. Childcare can be provided if needed. If you’re attending and need childcare, contact Ryan Rike.

While we are studying Scripture and learning practical tools, our children will be getting some training and equipping of their own from our incredible Kidtown Volunteers. Along with fun games and activities, we will be teaching our kids about the Biblical foundation of what it looks like to honor and obey authority in our lives - both our parents and the good God who gives us our parents!

Recovery

image-asset.jpeg

Kickoff Weekend

It's almost time for Kickoff Weekend 2019! Kickoff Weekend is taking place on August 8-10 at 1800 Blanding St. The sessions will be at:

Thursday - 6:00pm-8:30pm (dinner and childcare provided)
Friday - 6:00pm-8:30pm (dinner and childcare provided)
Saturday - 8:00am-2:00pm (breakfast, lunch, and childcare provided)

All Midtown Missionary Members (who have taken Midtown Class and signed the member covenant) are invited.

Every year, Kickoff Weekend is a chance for us to do intentional mission training as a church. This year, we want to focus that attention and training on cultural analysis and how to read our current cultural climate for the sake of responding as faithful gospel witnesses. To that end, we will be doing teaching and studying together various aspects of our culture and how the Bible speaks directly into those areas.

If you want to get ahead in preparing for the weekend we would highly encourage you to check out two different resources:

While we would not affirm everything these resources talk about, they will be very helpful to get you thinking about some of these different things before the weekend arrives.

We look forward to seeing you August 8, 2019 for Kickoff Weekend!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Tim Olson.

Career Discipleship Lunch - Medical Professionals

WorkMEDweb.jpg

On Sunday, June 9th, after the 11:15 AM Gathering at the Midtown Office, Midtown is hosting a one-hour lunch for all those in our church family who work in the medical field. All of life is discipleship - learning how to follow Jesus in everything we do, including our work. We want this to be a time where we can connect with one another, share some of the particular challenges that come with the job, and talk about how we can integrate faith in the workplace.

College students interested in this field are also invited to attend.

Midtown Class is also the avenue to becoming a missionary member in our church.
