God

Greater Than

Volatile issues consume our newsfeeds, but we need to approach these issues biblically. As a church family, we want to fix our eyes on Jesus, and become a people of peace, hope, and love as we follow Jesus.

How we view ourselves, others, and the world around us is so closely connected to how large (or small) our view of God really is. So for this series, we want to spend some time focusing on how God changes everything and what that means for us on a day-to-day basis.

In Columbia As It Is In Heaven

In Cola Web.jpg

The church is comprised of people following Jesus together. And while it’s easy to turn church into simply creating compelling events, Jesus reminds us that the church is about creating compelling people - people who follow Jesus and do the things Jesus did. This is Jesus’s means to bring His Kingdom to Earth.

For this series, we want to equip our church to be compelling Jesus-centered people who look more like Him because when we do, Columbia looks a little more like Heaven.

Worthy | There Is None Like Him

Worthy Web Graphic.jpg

Everybody worships. The question is, “What do we worship?” Some of us worship our jobs, worship our families, worship our significant other. Some of us worship more obscure things like control, power, or comfort. And whatever we worship is what we will pour all our time, attention, and affections into.

So the question becomes, what is actually worthy of our worship? In this series, we’ll take a look at how God, above all things, is ultimately worthy.

Precious In His Sight

We are a society where race often has a profound effect on life experiences, life opportunities, and social relationships. Segregation ended a long time ago, but even to this day practical separation between black Americans and white Americans often still exists. Somehow we often end up living in different neighborhoods, attending different schools, watching different TV shows, listening to different music and even joining different churches. Racial separation, tension, and misunderstanding have anything but vanished, as many recent controversial events prove.

The truth is, the current racial issues in America didn’t come out of nowhere. There is a history. A story. However, the hope that God’s people walk in regarding the potential of racial reconciliation didn’t come out of nowhere either.

If we are going to have any shot at being a faithful church in our context, we have to know the story of God and the story of America. When we are equipped with both of these stories and an identity that goes deeper than skin color, Gods people have much to offer in the face of long-standing racial issues.

To help our LifeGroups grow in our understanding of American history and God's story, we decided to write a book for this series. Inside of the book you will find a chapter to go along with each week of the series, corresponding study guides and black pages for taking notes. To get the most out of this series we encourage you to read each chapter, take notes and discuss it with the members of your LifeGroup. We won't be having bulletins for this series so please remember to bring your book each week to the Gatherings.

Party Jesus

This series takes five weeks to welcome people into our Jesus-centered family on mission by talking about parties, feasts, and celebrations. The bible has a surprising amount of things to say about Jesus' attendance in and around the party scene.
