Identity

His & Hers

American society attempted a social experiment of flattening gender differences for the promise of a hyper-egalitarian, androgynous future with equity of outcomes as the goal.

The result of this experiment is that by and large, men are not doing well…women are not doing well…and marriages are not doing well. And we often don’t know how to talk about why.

At times, we lack the clarity to see that some of our biggest problems go all the way to our God-given, gendered design. There is a lot of deep confusion, and the topic of gender differentiation is often incredibly contentious.

But what if it doesn’t have to be? What if a better understanding of our God-given design sheds light on many of our problems?

God’s Word extends an invitation to find our joy in God’s good design for our gender. The Biblical foundation of two genders made with fundamental equality AND unique wiring, skills, and responsibilities is both more in line with reality and more helpful for human flourishing, healthy marriages, and an overall healthy society.

Known and Loved

“Known and loved.” That’s a powerful phrase.

At some level, all of us are looking for places in life where we feel known and loved. Some of us have that, and some of us don’t. Others of us are looking for that in family, romance, friendships, or any number of things - and have felt hurt or betrayed in the process.

And yet, the beauty of Scripture says this is what Jesus offers us when we follow Him.

For this series, we’ll spend three weeks looking at how Scripture calls us to be known and loved by God, known and loved by each other, and making Jesus’ love known to our neighbors.

To help facilitate LifeGroup discussion, we'll be posting resources for each week of the series.

People of the Pages

Midtown Fellowship started over 15 years ago, in 2007, in a context where Christ's name was abundant, but faithfulness to his teachings sometimes was not. The resounding question back then was: Why aren't we just doing what's on the pages?

Fast forward fifteen years, and new challenges face the church that we must learn to navigate if we want to live out being a Jesus-centered family on mission faithfully.

These challenges require us to look again at our Bibles and ask questions like: What are we at risk of neglecting as Christians today? What must be rediscovered and re-committed to if our story is to remain the same story – to be a church that says, "Why don't we just do what's on the pages?"

Work

Work Web.jpg

Work is more than your 9-5. It’s everything that God calls you to do.

Whether it’s clocking in at the office, attending classes, raising children, managing your budget, all of it falls under the category of “work.” And this work is actually all part of God’s plan to redeem all of creation.

Our aim for this series is to see our work as part of God’s bigger story. We want to see our work as actively partnering with God to help accomplish what He’s doing throughout the world.
